We’re proud to share some lovely news from the Howcroft’s team.

Lucy and Craig have been named finalists in the Matthew Gallagher Student of the Year Achievement Award 2026, presented by Independent Funeral Directors College.

This is a national award that recognises students who go above and beyond in their training – not just meeting expectations, but exceeding them while balancing the day-to-day responsibilities that come with working in the funeral profession.

A Proud Moment for Howcroft’s

This year saw a record number of nominations, with an incredibly high standard across the board. Nominations came from all directions – employers, colleagues, families, celebrants and even clients – which says a lot about the impact students are having across the profession.

To be shortlisted as finalists in such a competitive field is something we’re genuinely proud of.

At Howcroft’s, we’ve always believed that caring for families starts with investing in people. Recognition like this reflects the dedication, compassion and quiet hard work that happens behind the scenes every day.

Looking Ahead to Awards Day

The winner and runners-up will be announced at the FD College Awards Celebration Luncheon on 9th May at Putteridge Bury, Luton.

Whatever the outcome, being named a finalist is a fantastic achievement in itself – and a moment well worth celebrating.

We’ll be cheering them on.
